The Facebook post character limit is 63,206 characters, far more than anyone needs. The limit that matters is the “See more” cut-off: about 477 characters on desktop and only about 125 on mobile. Posts with a photo or link show even less text. Put the most important sentence first.

Facebook ads character limits

Facebook ad text has no hard limit in most fields, but Meta recommends short text because longer text is cut off on mobile:

  • Primary text: 125 characters
  • Headline: 40 characters (up to 255 allowed)
  • Link description: 25 to 30 characters
