How to add line breaks in your Instagram bio
Adding line breaks to an Instagram bio with this generator takes four steps, on a phone or a computer.
-
Type your text
Write your bio or caption with the line breaks and blank lines you want.
-
Pick a spacer
Invisible space keeps the gap clean. Dot or dash makes the gap visible.
-
Copy the result
Tap “Copy formatted text”. The counter shows the length against the 150 or 2,200 limit.
-
Paste into Instagram
Open Edit profile or your post, paste, and save. The spacing stays.
Typed: “Coffee lover ☕”, a blank line, then “Photographer in Dubai”. Instagram would merge these lines. The generator puts an invisible character on the blank line, so it stays.
Why Instagram removes your line breaks
Instagram keeps single line breaks but collapses empty lines, so a gap you type between two paragraphs disappears when you save. Spaces at the end of a line can also stop a line break from saving.
The fix is to put something on the empty line that Instagram treats as text but that you can’t see. This generator uses the Braille blank (U+2800), a real Unicode character that looks like a space. You can also choose a visible dot or dash if you prefer.
Instagram line breaks on iPhone and Android
On iPhone, the keyboard has a return key in Instagram’s bio and caption fields, but blank lines still collapse. Write your text here, copy it, and paste it into Instagram.
On Android, some keyboards hide the return key in the bio field. Pasting formatted text from this generator works on every keyboard.
Do line breaks count as characters?
Yes. Each line break counts as one character, and so does each invisible spacer, so a spaced-out bio uses more of the 150-character limit. The counter above includes them.
Characters you can use for a blank line
Any visible or invisible character on an empty line keeps the gap. These are the options in the generator.
-
⠀
Braille blank (U+2800)
Invisible and widely supported. The default.
-
·
Middle dot
A small, quiet visible spacer.
-
—
Em dash
A visible divider between sections.
Instagram line breaks FAQ
Can I use emojis with Instagram line breaks?
Yes. Emoji work normally on any line. Remember that most emoji count as 2 characters toward the 150-character bio limit.
Do Instagram line breaks work in captions and comments?
Yes. The same blank-line problem affects captions and comments, and the same fix works: paste the formatted text from the generator.
Are there character limits for Instagram bios with line breaks?
Yes. The bio limit is 150 characters, and every line break and invisible spacer counts as one.
Will my Instagram line breaks look the same on all devices?
Yes. The Braille blank is part of Unicode, so it displays as empty space on iPhone, Android and the web.
Is the invisible character safe to use?
Yes. It’s an ordinary Unicode character. It won’t harm your account, but screen readers may skip or announce it, so don’t use it in your name or username.
