Tap Counter

A free online tally counter: tap to count people, stock, reps, laps or prayers. Keep several named counters, count up by 1, 5 or 10, set a goal, and pick up where you left off, because your counts stay saved in this browser.

How to use the tap counter

Using the tap counter takes three steps, on a phone, tablet or computer.

    1. Name your counter

Type what you’re counting, such as “Visitors” or “Box A”. Set a goal if you have a target.

    2. Tap to count

Tap the big button, or press Space, Enter or ↑. Made a mistake? Press − or ↓ to take one off.

    3. Add more counters

Count several things at once, switch between them with one tap, and download the totals as a CSV file.

    Example

Counting stock: add a counter for each product, tap as you go, then download all the totals as one CSV file.

    Tap counter features

The tap counter replaces a handheld tally counter, with a few things a clicker can’t do.

What you can count with a tap counter

A tap counter works for anything you’d count on your fingers or with a handheld clicker.

    UseHow to set it up
Stock takes and inventoryOne counter per item or shelf. Download the CSV when you’re done.
People at an event or doorTwo counters, “In” and “Out”. People inside = In minus Out.
Exercise reps, sets and lapsOne counter per exercise, with your target reps as the goal.
Prayer and dhikr (tasbih)Set a goal of 33 or 100 and turn on vibration, so you know when you’re done.
Traffic and wildlife surveysOne counter per type: cars, bikes and pedestrians, or each species you spot.
Games and scoresOne counter per player or team.

    Tap counter keyboard shortcuts

On a computer, you can count with the keyboard instead of clicking.

    KeyWhat it does
Space, Enter or ↑Add the current step (1, 5 or 10) to the selected counter.
↓ or −Take the current step off the selected counter.
    TabMove between buttons and counters.

Shortcuts are paused while you type a counter name or goal, so typing never changes a count.

Tap counter vs tally counter vs click counter

A tally counter is the handheld clicker used by door staff and stock takers. This tap counter does the same job on your phone, and adds named counters, goals and a CSV download.

If you want to test how fast you can click instead, use the Click Counter, which has timers and a clicks per second score.

    Are my counts saved?

Yes. Every tap is saved in your browser’s storage on this device, so your counts are still there if you close the page, refresh it or lose your connection. They aren’t sent to our server, so they don’t move between devices.

Counts are lost if you clear your browser’s site data, or when you close a private (incognito) window. To keep a permanent copy, use Download CSV.

    Tap counter FAQ

    Is the tap counter free?

Yes. It’s free, with no sign-up, no app to install and no limit on how much you count.

Will I lose my count if I close the page?

No. Counts are saved in your browser on this device. They’re only lost if you clear your browser data or use a private window.

Can I count more than one thing at a time?

Yes. Add up to 12 named counters and switch between them with one tap. The total of all counters is shown beside them.

How do I undo a tap?

Press the − button, or ↓ on a keyboard. It takes off the current step size.

Can I use it as a tasbih or dhikr counter?

Yes. Set a goal of 33 or 100, and turn on vibration on an Android phone to feel when you reach it.

Can my phone vibrate on each tap?

On Android phones, yes: tick “Vibrate on each tap”. iPhones don’t let websites use vibration, so the option has no effect there.

Does the tap counter work offline?

Once the page has loaded, counting works without a connection, and your counts are saved on your device.
